What to look for with a lawn care service.

Are you considering hiring a lawn care service to manage your lawn? Here is some things to consider.

Is your lawn service insured?

Since the lawn service will be working on your property, have you considered who is responsible for any injuries sustained by employees of the lawn service if they are injured on your property? What happens if a rock is accidently thrown from a mower through your front picture window? What if the lawn service damages your lawn or plants that they were caring for? If you are not sure if your lawn service is insured, you may want to ask for proof before you end up paying for bills that you thought were covered by the lawn service.

Is your lawn service doing what they say they will do?

Are you paying for what you are really getting? Does your lawn service give you the service that you expected or are they cutting corners? Are they on time and easy to get ahold of? Do they communicate promptly when they are unable to service your lawn as scheduled? Do they answer all of your questions promptly? Do they welcome your feedback? If your not comfortable with your current lawn service, you probably need to consider finding another service.

Is your lawn care service a professional lawn service?

Have you researched your lawn service to see if they have a professional operation? Do they conduct business professionally or are they just in it for some quick cash? Does your lawn service have a professional website, belong to any professional organizations, have specialized training? How is their business ratings, any customer complaints? Are they willing to offer you references of previous customers?

Is your lawn service a registered and licensed business?

Professional services conduct legal business and are comfortable showing proof that they are registered and licensed to conduct business. Professional businesses invest a great deal of time, money, and resources towards their businesses. Professional businesses pride themselves in having a professional reputation, the guy looking to make a quick buck may or may not care about his reputation and may care more about the quick cash.

Sure, you can always find a cheaper guy to cut your grass or work on your lawn, but at what cost? Will you regret it later when your visions of a beautiful lawn end up being a ruined mess? Or how about that broken window in your car or house that your lawn service denies any involvement with? Or better yet, when the lawn service guy gets injured and has lots of medical bills that you end up being forced to pay since the injury occurred on your property? What happens when you get scammed by a fly by night operation who takes your money and runs for "up front" charges on that beautiful landscape you wanted that never happens? Just some things to think about when you are looking for a lawn care service.
